Overview
WINDEV, WEBDEV and WINDEV Mobile support up to 64 languages in the same project: window, report, WLanguage, etc.
You can translate content afterwards with WDMSG or in the editors directly.
For a better workflow, you can use Google Translate from the editors.
Caution: You must accept Google Translate's Terms of Service, which may vary over time.
Implementation

Using Google Translate in the editors

To use Google Translate in the editors:
  1. Open the general options of the software you are using: on the "Home" tab, in the "Environment" group, expand "Options" and select "General options of WINDEV / WEBDEV / WINDEV Mobile".
  2. Go to the "Translation" tab.
  3. Select the "Google Translate" engine. Specify the API key required to use Google Translate.
  4. Validate.

Getting the API key required to use Google Translate

To get the API key required to use Google Translate:
  1. You must own a Google account.
  2. Log in to the Google API console to enable the "Translate API" service (https://code.google.com/apis/console, valid at the time of writing this document).
  3. A new option ("API Access") appears. Click this option.
  4. Your "API Key" is generated and displayed in the page. Enter this key in the WINDEV, WEBDEV and WINDEV Mobile options window.
Remarks:
  • The Google account billing information must be correctly filled in. Google Translate is a paid service. If this information is not specified, an error will occur when attempting to translate text.
  • For more details on how to obtain the API key and how to use Google Translate, see https://developers.google.com/translate/v2/faq
  • The version of the translation API used is v2.
Using Google Translate in the editors
When Google Translate is enabled, most editors allow you to use this translation mode.
To use Google Translate in the editors:
  1. An icon () appears in the different areas that can be translated using Google Translate.
  2. Click this icon to view the translation options for the current text:
  3. Simply select the desired language pair.
For a description window, you can also perform the following operations:
  1. Click the section containing the text to be translated.
  2. Click the button at the bottom of the window.
  3. The translation window appears.
    In this window:
    • Select the source language.
    • Click the "Request translation" link to get the translation via Google Translate in the desired language.
  4. Select the translations you want to use in the description window (check the translations or click "All" and "None").
  5. Confirm the selected translation options. These changes are automatically applied in the description window.
