The Unicode property is used to:
  • Determine if the value of a control is a Unicode string.
  • Specify whether the value of a control is a Unicode string.
Remark: This property is very useful to manage the controls linked to an HFSQL item in Unicode format.
Example
// Checks whether the value of EDT_EmailMessage is in Unicode format
IF EDT_EmailMessage.Unicode = False THEN

Syntax

Determining if the value of the control is in Unicode format Hide the details

<Result> = <Control used>.Unicode
<Result>: Boolean
  • True if the value of the control is in Unicode format,
  • False otherwise.
<Control used>: Control name
Name of the control to be used.

Specifying whether the value of a control is in Unicode format Hide the details

<Control used>.Unicode = <Unicode/Ansi>
<Control used>: Control name
Name of the control to be used.
<Unicode/Ansi>: Boolean
  • True if the value of the control must be in Unicode format,
  • False otherwise.
Remarks

Managing non-Latin character sets

There is no need to use Unicode controls to manage the languages that use a non-latin character set. Simply use ChangeCharset.

Limits

The Unicode property is available for the following controls:
  • Edit control,
  • Combo Box control,
  • Static control,
  • List Box control,
  • Column of Table control,
  • ListView control.
  • WEBDEV - Server code Dashboard control (property available in read mode only).

  • Version 12
